Restaurants

The Fairmont Peace Hotel is proud to present their 5 signature restaurants, bars and lounges reviving the iconic hotel’s rich history for fine dining and entertainment. Holding the Far East’s most legendary hotel address back in Shanghai’s 1930s ‘Paris of the Orient’ heyday, the hotel was one of the world’s most prestigious places to dine and socialize. Reviving this sense of style and sophistication, the 5 venues – Dragon Phoenix, The Cathay Room, Jasmine Lounge, The Jazz Bar and Victor’s – combine world-renowned chefs, genre-defining cuisine, exquisite services and spectacular art deco design to continue the hospitality of this legendary landmark.

Dragon Phoenix is one of the city’s most prestigious Shanghainese cuisine restaurant for impressing guests and business associates. The superbly cooked regional Chinese cuisines are served under its timeless heritage interiors with reference to the symbols of the Chinese Emperor, while the restaurant on the eighth floor overlooks the Huangpu River and the soaring Pudong skyline.
Our Chinese master chef John Ma, was selected as one of the master chefs to serve Shanghainese cuisines for China president Xi, France president Macron and other delegations in 2019 China International Import Expo.

The Cathay Room, s
ignature French restaurant on the ninth floor serves guests throughout the day in casually elegant surroundings. The inviting room used to host its founder, Sir Victor Sassoon and his friends for a night of quality food, wine and company. The Cathay Terrace Bar, at the refreshing open-air terrace outside The Cathay Room can be reserved for exclusive private dinners with customized menus.

The Old Jazz Bar, quite simply a Shanghai institution. Originally designed as an English pub named the Horse & Hound it was a showcase for the popularity of jazz in the 1930s, and the bar’s successful jazz bands provided entertainment for many politicians, celebrities, movie stars and global travelers. The revamped space is practically a throwback to the city’s romantic 1930s ‘golden age’. Its timeless cocktails and legendary jazz make it a not-to-be-missed destination for Shanghai residents and visitors who get into the swing in the early evening with the world-famous Old Jazz Band, whose six veteran musicians have been a fixture at the Peace Hotel for decades. The oldest jazz band in Guinness record, average 82 years old performs their band every day from 19:00pm to 23:00pm and the band plays nostalgic dance and swing tunes from the 1920s and 1930s.

Jasmine Lounge at lobby, which launched the trend for high tea and tea dances in Shanghai during the 1930s. An atmospheric spot to enjoy the vibrancy of the heritage hotel lobby, Jasmine Lounge serves the finest selection of teas from around the world, with afternoon tea  delicacies on every Sunday.

Victor’s Cafe, a gourmet French patisserie and boulangerie looking out to Nanjing East Pedestrian Road and named after the hotel’s founder Victor Sassoon. It serves an assortment of fine pastries, artisanal breads and handcrafted pralines.
