Meeting facilities

The Fairmont Peace Hotel is proud to unveil its stunning rooftop events space, one of the largest and most historic roof terraces on The Bund.   The rooftop is the ideal area for exclusive occasions from wedding ceremonies to corporate launches. Following the Fairmont Peace Hotel’s distinctive A-shape design, the eleventh-floor space has a total area of more than 1,000 square metres, making it suitable for parties of up to 800 people.   The view is one of the finest in Shanghai, looking out on three sides over the Huangpu River and across the water to the incredible skyline of Pudong. The space can be catered with a full buffet or a cocktail bar, and up to 20 round tables can be set up, making it ideal for an awe-inspiring wedding or social gathering. Corporate events can use the rooftop to set themselves against the most iconic sites of Shanghai —the historic Bund and the futurism of Pudong.   The terrace also holds two of the most exclusive private dining rooms in the city. The Scotland Room is a 25-square-metre space with high ceilings and the traditional decoration of a British gentleman’s club. It is entirely secluded in the center of the rooftop and would make a magical location for exclusive events and intimate dinners.   Directly beneath it is the 35-square-metre England Room, another hidden space and certainly one of the most unique private dining areas in Shanghai. Both of these rooms were originally designed for private dining when the Peace Hotel first opened its doors and have been named in honour of the British founder of the hotel, Sir Victor Sassoon.   Adjacent to the roof terrace is Nine Heavens Hall, which was once used exclusively for Sir Victor’s private parties. It has been perfectly restored to its original 1920s glory and offers 270-degree views of the river. Both private dining rooms and Nine Heavens Hall are available for hire and all three form the perfect extension of the outdoor roof terrace.   On the hotel's Mezzanine Level, the Fairmont Peace Hotel has just re-opened the floor's largest function room, Chun Shen, which is the original name for the Huangpu River. The 215-square-metre space is flooded with natural light and has been immaculately designed to complement the Art Deco style of the Fairmont Peace Hotel, with wood panelling lining the walls and original cast-iron windows that offer a compelling view of the Bund that will lend any event a sense of excitement and prestige.   The room comfortably sits up to 100 people if furnished with round tables and 160 if laid out as a theatre.   To the west of Chun Shen on the Mezzanine Level there is the new Thames Room, a magnificent 110-square-metre space overlooking historic Dian Chi Road with additional views of the Huangpu River. Blending the Fairmont Peace Hotel’s opulent design with all modern corporate comforts and amenities, the Thames Room sits up to 50 people when furnished with round tables.   Both new function rooms offer cutting-edge audio-visual technology as well as high-speed and wireless Internet access. A full-service Business Centre provides comprehensive support for all technical needs.   From heritage events and social occasions to high-level meetings, weddings, birthdays or breath-taking intimate dinners, The Fairmont Peace Hotel boasts the perfect range of meticulous indoor and outdoor locations, each imbued with the majesty and history of this legendary destination. Offering exquisite service and basking in Shanghai’s finest view of the Huangpu River, the hotel remains the city’s premier venue for conferences, ceremonies and corporate functions.

The Fairmont Peace Hotel is proud to present their 5 signature restaurants, bars and lounges reviving the iconic hotel’s rich history for fine dining and entertainment. Holding the Far East’s most legendary hotel address back in Shanghai’s 1930s ‘Paris of the Orient’ heyday, the hotel was one of the world’s most prestigious places to dine and socialize. Reviving this sense of style and sophistication, the 5 venues – Dragon Phoenix, The Cathay Room, Jasmine Lounge, The Jazz Bar and Victor’s – combine world-renowned chefs, genre-defining cuisine, exquisite services and spectacular art deco design to continue the hospitality of this legendary landmark.

Signature Chinese restaurant Dragon Phoenix is one of the city’s most prestigious venue for impressing guests and business associates. The superbly cooked regional Chinese cuisines are served under its timeless heritage interiors with reference to the symbols of the Chinese Emperor, while the restaurant on the eighth floor overlooks the Huangpu River and the soaring Pudong skyline. “…both inside and out, it (The building) was a unique symbol of modernity and luxury in 1930s Shanghai. It was revolutionary in every way” said Shanghai-based historian, Peter Hibbard MBE.  Back in the day, this was where the world’s most elite gathered, hence
chairs at the Emperor’s Table were claimed to have seated more celebrities than any other restaurant in the entire world.
Dragon Phoenix serves a la carte lunch selections tailored to all guests. Set banquet menus are also available for dinner, paired with fine teas, wines and Chinese liquors. The 170-seat restaurant offers quintessential Shanghainese delicacies. In addition, guests in the restaurant’s four private rooms – seating 10 to 30 people – can enjoy custom tailored menus, exclusive butler services and traditional tea ceremonies.

Signature European restaurant The Cathay Room on the ninth floor serves guests throughout the day in casually elegant surroundings. The inviting room used to host its founder, Sir Victor Sassoon and his friends for a night of quality food, wine and company. Guests can peruse the wine list and sample one of the more than 250 European and New World labels on offer. The refreshing open-air terrace outside
The Cathay Room can be reserved for exclusive private dinners with customized menus.

Off the lobby is the Jasmine Lounge, which launched the trend for high tea and tea dances in Shanghai during the 1930s. An atmospheric spot to enjoy the vibrancy of the heritage hotel lobby, Jasmine Lounge serves the finest selection of teas from around the world, with daily afternoon tea delicacies.
The Lounge also offers an envious collection of Champagnes, cocktails and Martinis that are served tableside. The daily Guzheng performance is a classic segue into elegant evenings on the Bund.

Another nightspot is The Jazz Bar, quite simply a Shanghai institution. Originally designed as an English pub named the Horse & Hound it was a showcase for the popularity of jazz in the 1930s, and the bar’s successful jazz bands provided entertainment for many politicians, celebrities, movie stars and global travelers.
The revamped space is practically a throwback to the city’s romantic 1930s ‘golden age’. Its timeless cocktails and legendary jazz make it a not-to-be-missed destination for Shanghai residents and visitors who get into the swing in the early evening with the world-famous Old Jazz Band, whose six veteran musicians have been a fixture at the Peace Hotel for decades. The band plays nostalgic dance and swing tunes from the 1920s and 1930s.

Away from the jazzy beats, feel free to stop by Victor’s, a gourmet French patisserie and boulangerie looking out to Nanjing Road and named after the hotel’s founder Victor
Sassoon. It serves an assortment of fine pastries, artisanal breads and handcrafted pralines.
